State Park Campgrounds
Castle Crags State Park — (800) 444-7275 or (530) 235-2684; located 15 miles south of Mt. Shasta City off Interstate 5 near Castella. From Interstate 5 take the Castella exit and turn right (west) for about 1/4 mile to the Park entrance. The Park is situated under the Crags at an elevation of 2,100 feet with 64 RV and tent sites with restrooms and hot showers and an interpretive center. Open all year with access to hiking trails, rock climbing, and picnicking.
McArthur-Burney Falls State Park — Located in Shasta County just several miles south of the Siskiyou County line. There are two ways of getting there, one is from Interstate 5, take Highway 299 East from Redding, proceed to the town of Burney. McArthur Burney Falls Memorial State Park is just outside of the community of Burney on Highway 89. You can also take Highway 89 southeast of McCloud towards the town of Burney. Camping, boating, fishing, and swimming and nature hikes are available.
